Alexander Finlayson and Janet Burnside were the parents of Jean Finlayson, who was born 27 December 1750 at Abbey, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. I have confirmed this at the National Registry in Edinburgh. The birth record for Jean erroneously listed the mother as "Brownside"; but she was, in fact Burnside. This error is the source of my own error in a previous Post to this board, see below.

On 1 September 1786, Jean married Thomas Kirkwood at Low Church (or Burgh), Paisley. They are my 5g grandparents. Their son Robert Kirkwood was born June 10, 1787, at Low Church, Paisley, and he married Margaret Carruth on December 3, 1808, at High Church, Paisley. Robert and Margaret emigrated to the U.S. and arrived in Philadelphia on Ship Everthorp from Glasgow or Greenock on July 12, 1816.
