GGGrandfather John Garrett m. Sallie Davis late 1850's(?)
They had 2 boys, Charles W.(1859) and William C.. Both parents are listed as non-citizens, yet both boys and their offspring are listed as Creek Freedmen. They were each awarded 40 acres. Sallie(we believed was a Creek) died before the war, boys were raised by aunt(Mattie Davis) and then on their own. Anything sound familiar? Also how can 2 non-citizens have 2 creek freedmen?
