I have been working with the folks at the New Haven Convention and Visitors Bureau and they have gone out of their way to find the best in motel/hotel rates, facilities, etc. for us. Excellent people to work with.
At this time I have selected the "Holiday Inn, New haven @ Yale", in downtown New Haven, as our headquarters for the reunion. We have negotiated room rates of $79.00 per night (a big savings off reg rates). On site parking, the use of a free room for our meetings (and a banquet if we decide to have one), and the fact that this hotel has just been newly renovated from top to bottom was enough to swing the decision. The hotel is also within walking distance of major research centres, like Yale U Library,...... also a plus.
The hotel has agreed to hold up to 30 rooms for us at this special rate, each with two double beds. It also has a restaurant and lounge and an outdoor pool. You must do your own booking.......Call 1-800 HOLIDAY and refer to the Holiday Inn, New Haven CT at 30 Whalley Avenue. Ask for the special Ludington rate as negotiated thru Robin McHill, Director of Sales. You can call Robin directly at 203/777/6221 or fax to 203/772/1089. Please may a decision asap and don't put it off until the last minute.
We have set the dates for check in as Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001. We will meet in the room that is set aside for our use late that day for a get/together of sorts.. At that time I will have worked up a huge list of places to see, places to look, etc. for those who want to research on the Monday and Tuesday following. Wednesday will be a day of info sharing as I hope to have as many local Luds there to share their family branch info with us. I will bring my computer as usual and have it set up with printer so that I can run off any info I can share with you. Bring yours too if at all possible.
We will attempt to have a banquet of sorts that evening so that everyone can become better aquainted.
If planning to attend please advise Ron at
