From the Mobile, Alabama Newspaper:
Friday, June 29, 1962
• "FAIRHOPE, Ala. -- Dr. John R. Campbell, former director of the School of Organic Education and a teacher in the school for many years, died here after a brief illness."
He had come to Fairhope in 1928, and was a charter member of the Fairhope Kiwanis Club. He had earned a doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin, and had taught botany and horticulture at the college level. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Church, and was buried in the Fairhope Cemetery.
note- Fairhope is in Baldwin County, Alabama
According to the 1930 census he was born in Illinois.
