Hello,
I'm wondering if someone has easy access to a Ashley county death records that would be willing to do a look up? We have a Henry Johnson in the family (African American) that was said to have died sometime around 1928/29 as a result of poisoning. I've seen an index of deaths for the area but nobody that seems to match up exactly, so that makes me think either we have his death year wrong, or his death wasn't recorded at all. Henry was born in Arkansas around 1900 (give or take a year). His youngest daughter was born in 1927 so we know he was still alive then, but died shortly after. Not knowing his exact death date makes it a little impractical to send off requests for all 'Henry Johnson's" in the vicinity of his death year, so I'm hoping someone might be able to browse through the Henry Johnson's to find the right one (don't know if you can get that kind of access to old death records there or not). I'm in California, so the search isn't easy for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. A little more background (according to oral family history) Henry stabbed and killed a man, and the man's family poisoned his drink shortly after, and Henry died 3 days later. Not sure how accurate that story is OR his death date. It also possible this might have occured in Drew county as well, though I think Ashley is more likely.
Thanks!
