Can anyone provide information about the William B. Smith, b. 1797 in Mississippi, who was a resident of the northern part of Carroll Co in 1850? He and wife Nancy had these children: Sarah b. 1827; Emily b. 1830 who married John Henson bef. 1860; Simeon b. 1831; Elizabeth b. 1835; Nancy b. 1837; William b. 1840; and Jacob b. 1843. By 1860 this same William B. Smith was in Yazoo County with an adult woman named Ann Smith in his household. His children Elizabeth, Nancy, William and Emily and John Henson lived with them. Also in this 1860 household were four orphaned Bentley children. The Bentley children's step-grandmother Anna's maiden name was Smith from Claiborne County, MS. I am trying to figure out just how Anna Smith Bentley of Claiborne and Yazoo County was connected to this William B. Smith from the Smith family of Claiborne, Yazoo and Carroll County.
