Looking for connections on the subject surnames or placenames. The Higashida's "adopted" a Nishiyama boy in the mid to late 1800's. Several of the children emigrated first to Hawaii and then to California in the 1905-1920 time frame. When some of the wives came over to California I have references to Arao and Kiyosato-mura as where they were from, and suspect that's where the families came from. The Yamanaka's I believe were from the Arao area.

Would appreciate any help on anyone familiar with the areas, especially how they were in the late 1800's. Also, any familiarity with the surnames would be greatly appreciated too.
