I have been trying to locate the origin of my ancestor MAURICE JAMES NUNAN b abt 1805 in, I believe, Cork. His wife, Elizabeth Johns, may also have been born in Ireland. Maurice and Elizabeth had 6 children before migrating to Australia aboard the BIRMAN in 1840. This ship left from Greenock, Scotland in August 1840 but sailed to Cork before depating for Port Adelaide. The names and birth years of the children were Jeremiah 1826, Ellen 1828, Mary Ann 1830, John Johns 1835, Maurice James 1837 and Charles 1840. If anyone has access to birth or marriage or baptism records for any of the Cork parishes, could you please look for me to help me unlock this 20 year old mystery!
Or any information anyone has on the Nunan family of Cork would be appreciated - I'm sure MJ had brother and sisters and parents somewhere!
Cheers
Kate
