Sounds like Phillip Smith might have been DAMON Phillip Smith...probably D.P. Jr. according to the dates you give. But, there were at least THREE D.P. Smith's, with Jr. having a son known as Damon P. Smith, III. Don't know if he named a son the same or not.

Family has been through a lot of trauma. But the widow of D.P., Jr. is STILL LIVING in Llano on East Sandstone Street. She goes by Chu Chu (pronounced Chuh Chuh), but I don't know if that's her real name or not. I went to school with daughter Diane Smith (Ligon), who was one grade ahead of me and son, D.P., III, who was three years younger. A third child was known as Hatch Smith. Family operated local livestock auction in Llano many years. After Phillip died, Hatch took over as Damon became a lawyer and moved out of state after college. The trauma began with death of Diane at a young age from an asthma attack. Then Damon III developed some type of brain tumor and died way before his time too. Finally, in the past two or three years, Hatch also died way before his time should have been. The wife, mother has endured so much, but she might possibily be able to identify the other man you are interested in. Her mind and physical abilities are still very good. I really feel for her for the pain she has experienced.
