I would very much like to locate a Hooper (with the surname Hooper) male descendant of Johnson Jones Hooper, or his brother, George D. Hooper, of Lee. (I am assuming it is Lee, Alabama, as I got my information from a book entitled, Alabama, Her History.
Johnson Jones Hooper was born in Wilmington, NC June 9, 1815. He was the son of a journalist. His grandfather was a brother of Hon. Wm. Hooper, a signer of the colonial decree of Independence. In 1840 he came to Chambers County where he read law in the office of his brother. In 1846, he moved to Montgomery County, Alabama, but returned to Chambers within a year, but moved to Montgomery County in 1852. He died in Richmond, Va, June 6, 1862. He had accompanied the Confederate congress to Richmond, VA.
I know that in 1860 census of Montgomery Co., Alabama, he had a son, William A., age 16, and a son, Adolphus S., agae 12. I do not know if his brother, George D. Hooper, had any sons.
I would very much like to find any male descendant of either this Adolphus S. Hooper or William A. Hooper.
