My GGG-Grandfather, Elias/Elisha Burton who m. Lydia Stowers(5/1800) in Montgomery Co, VA at age of 23 yrs stated that his father was John Burton. Does anyone know which of the John Burtons from southwestern VA he was referring to ? All, of the age to have been his father, appear to have served in the colonial period and/or during the War for Independence. Can anyone help? Thank you
