CAMERON - Funeral services for Billie Jean Spriggs, 70, of Cameron were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. Shelton Rhodes officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

A wake was held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Ms. Spriggs died Sept. 17 in a Richardson nursing center.

She was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Cameron to Morris Spriggs and Mattie Lee (Pope) Evans.

She was a member of The Greater Zion Church in Temple and also attended New Beginnings Full Gospel Tabernacle in Cameron.

Ms. Spriggs sat with the sick and elderly.

Survivors are two sons, Edward Johnson, Jr. of Cameron and Clint Ellis Johnson of DeSoto; two daughters, Sharla Patrice Thompson of Plano and Sherra Lanice Jackson of Waldorf, MD; her mother, Mattie Lee Evans of Cameron; and two sisters, Linda Thomas of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mary Ann Balland of Houston; also, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
