Looking for ancestors - TKAC/TKACS/TKACH
I understand that my Great, great, great grandfather's name was Martin TKAC (or Tkach or Tkacs) He married Anna REPKOVA(female Slovakian version of REPKO). They had at least one child (ANNA) who married Paul GRECKO,SR (Gretchko), and they had eight known children (Mary, Andrej, Paul, Jr., Helen, Stephen J, Ann R, George and my Great grandmother KATARINA b.1891). Karatina married John Sofranko (b. 1886)in 1907. I believe Katarina was the first of her family to be born in the US (Pennsylvania)
If any of this makes sense to anyone, please e-mail me direct. I have yet to figure out how to get into the Surname Message Board. I can post - but not find to read.
Thanks!

My Great-grandfather, First name unknown, last name Novotny (Novotnak). Married a woman who we think had the last name Tkac. Apparantly, she was from the surrouding Hazleton, Pa area. This would have been Mr. Novotnys second marriage. I have no idea where he is buried or either of his two wives. My mother says she remembers going to St. Josephs cemetery in Hazleton wth her father, my grandfather Stephen Sr. to visit the grave of his mother. I went there today to try and find this grave and the only thing we found was TKAC. This name sounded familiar to my mom so maybe there is a connection. Have you tried the SSI death index?? please let me know if this sounds remotely possible?...

Tina, I don't know if this would be of any interest, but the obituary for John Plavchak in the Mckeesport, Pennsylvania Daily News for 31 March 2000 had "Born in McKeesport, Oct. 1, 1906, he was a son of the late Peter and Anna Tkac Plavchak". Hope this gives you a lead.

My Grandmother, Anna (Dorchock)(Olsavsky) married Repka in Nova Lubovna, Slovakia. I checked the names with the Repko name in Nova Lubovna Slovakia, but none came up. The name Repka has many people in Nova Lubovna. Slovakia. Anna had 2 children to her first marriage. Anna and Repka had 4 children. They were twins boys and 2 girls. The girls name were Eva or Evita. One boy name was Voytech Repka. My Aunt Tekla (Repkova) Olsavsky came from Nova Lubovna, Slovakia.

Jeff: I am beginning to trace my family history, and I am having a tuff time. The origanal spelling of our ;ast name was Tkac, but was changed when I grandfather came over. According to his papers that I have found he was from the Austria-Hungary Empior. I hope you have some informaion, and will be able to get me started in the right direction. Thank you John A Tkach
