My Grandfather, Joseph Maximillian Ferles, was born in Vienna, Austria in March 13, 1891. He immigrated in 1914 and married my grandmother, Charlotte Sophia Siefert, in New York City (Manhattan).

They had three daughters, Charlotte (Joan), Katherine, and Anna.

I know very little about him other than he was fluent in a number of languages and was a painter. He was often away and would suddenly appear after months.

In the WWW II registration, he claimed that he was born in Celje, Yugoslavia, rather than Austria.
