Dear Warren,
Pleased to meet you. I enjoy researching the Coachman name and have read about Alice Coachman but have never tried to contact her. I know the Coachmans settled in South Carolina, Charleston and Georgetown area in about 1704. Coming from Barbados and England. I have some early Bible records. Hope I can be of help.

I am working on a book on the Coachman family. Yes, we are the Coachmans from South Carolina, and before that in Barbados and Kent England. I've been able to trace them back to Cranbrook in Kent in the 1400s.
Maybe I have information that may be helpful to you in your research. What names are you interested in?
Love to help if I can.
Bette

Oh, how I would love some help! The earliest Coachman I have is Benjamin Coachman, d. 4 May 1779(?) and married Sarah Smith, I think. The only children I have listed are Benjamin, Thomas, Sarah, and Ann. I have run into som many problems on this line. I am not even sure what I gave you is correct. Would appreciate any help and I also want to know when book comes out. Consider one copy sold to me regardless of price.

Many thanks

Lynn

This family has confused many people but I believe I finally have it right.
Benjamin and Sarah had six children that lived to adulthood. Benjamin, Sarah, Margaret, Harriet, Ann and Thomas. Do you descend from one of these?
In April 2001(Easter weekend) we are having our first Coachman reunion that will be held in Clearwater, Florida.
Hope to have the book ready by then. But in the meantime - how can I help?

This is already a help. I am doing this research for my children of my first marriage. I will get this added to my info and see where I stand. Yes, my childred are descended from the son Benjamin Coachman. The Coachmans and Bees get tied in together. I'll let you know how I show a descendency from the Coachmans when I get more of this "mess" straight.

Thank you so very much. Maybe I will come as representative of my children if they can't make it to Fla. Would that be okay? Mother has alzehimers so never know how things will be next year. Either way I want the book.

Many many thanks

Lynn

I have quite a bit on the Coachman-Bee connection and would be happy to send it to you if you will send me your address.
Benjamin Coachman m. Rebecca Singleton 29 July 1774. They had three children; Benjamin, Mary and Rebecca. Rebecca m. James Gadsden and they had six children. They're daughter Mary married Joseph Fraser Bee and they had six more children. This is just a brief summary. I will be happy to send what I have if it will help.
