Looking for parents and siblings of Margaretha Zwald, born ca 1770 in Meiringen, Bern, Switzerland. She married Benedict Fuhrer in ca 1793 and had at least 3 children. Have Swiss genealogy info to trade. Thanks.

My maiden name was Zwald, My father Wayne Zwald grew up in PA. My grandfathers name was Herold Zwald his wife was Eidith. My uncle also lives in PA his name is DaWayne Zwald. I guess from what my father has told me, my ansestors came from Sweden around that area.

Any chance Margaretha was born on Sep. 8, 1859 in Innertkirchen, Switzerland? The name is in a family history I did for a high school project.

I'm not sure of the Margaretha Zwald you are looking for. But there was a Margaretha Zwald, born 1568ish from the Bern, Switzerland area, who married a Melchoir Nageli. I've no other info for her, other than she had a son I'm decended from, also named Melchoir, born 1594. It seems that Margaretha must have died in child birth.
Any info that you would have on Zwalds, or if you've run across Nageli's, would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi- I have that Margretha Zwald married to Melchior Naegeli who was the son of Heinrich and Anna Im Dorf. I am descended from their son Peter, Melchior's younger brother. The margartha Zwald I really want was born in 1770ish and married Benedikt Fuhrer. I have lots of Naegelis/nagelis and Zwalds winding in and out of my family. Would be happy to trade info with you.

sorry, wrong century - all my Zwalds were from the 1500s to the 1700s, but some were from Innertkirchen.

Do you mean Sweden or Switzerland? Zwald has been a Swiss name for over 500 years. Of course, some of them may have moved to Sweden....

It sounds like you probably have what I do. I'm descended from Melchoir (1568) and Anna Jachn through two of their sons- Balthasar Nageli and Melchoir. Eventually, it looks like several cousins married later to get back to one branch of the tree.
I only recently found the Nageli line and thats how I came about to the Zwald line. I would really appreciate anything you would have on them, and the Bern, Switz. area that they are from.
I have info on Wagners, Dentzers, Henckels, Teters (Dieters), and Blands, as well as an assortment of other names, if any are pertinent to your search..
Thanks for the help. John
