Note that the Zube line that came to Harris County, Texas 1847-1848 have census records with the index listing the following spellings: ZUBE, ZUBY, CUBY 1850, SUBBER 1850, LUBE 1860. Most of these are translation errors where the transcriptionists of the census simply couldn't read the writing of the census taker(s). The Harris County, TX census takers in 1850 either didn't speak German, couldn't understand the pronounciation of the names, or couldn't spell the names so he used phonetic type spelling. This census is a mess of mispelled names. Examples - Zube spelled Subber, Butzke spelled Puske, etc.
Also note that it has recently come to my attention that the District 12 Harris County Texas census for 1860 has several pages that are numbered out of order, showing parents on one numbered sheet and their children on a sheet not numbered consecutively. This happened in more than one sheet. I have the "best guess" as to the sequence of the sheets in that District which is where the Zube and Butzke families lived if anyone is interested.
I also have been working with a Harris County researcher who has supplied me wth some new info regarding the possible grouping of Posen families that came to Harris County 1847-1848 if anyone is interested in that info.
