I am interested in finding out the exact origin of my mane. My grandfather was born Lithuania. I know there are some Zube's there in Klaipeda and Kaunas. Some Zube's I've met are from Germany. I know Zube in Russian means "tooth". If you run across this message, email me and tell me your family story. Thanks

My great great grandfather was Johann Zube who came to Texas with the Fisher-Miller Colony circa 1847 from Prussia. I have his naturalization record from Houston, Texas. The Zube name means water or water tub in Prussian. I was stunned to read your Lithuanian descent because up until now, every Zube I have run across in the US had Prussian (and later) German backgrounds. Could your Zube lineage originally have been from Prussian and emigrated into Russia? When did your line come to the US? I have done a fair amount of research on my Zube line and believe I have now tied my Johann Zube with a line originating near what is now Gdansk, Poland. I probably will never be able to conclusively prove this because all the early records were destroyed in WWII but I have proven it to my satisfaction at least. The only Zube family line in early Texas is mine and as far as I know, all the Zube's in Texas are related to me. I'll be interested to hear when your ancestors came.

I believe that "Zube" may be the real origin to my family name. My great great grandfather came to the coal fields of PA in the 1860s or 1870s from Germany. There seem to be very few Subes in the USA.

Good Luck on yopur family search.

John, the reasearch I have done on my great-great grandfather (Johann Zube) shows that he
was born in Marienburg, Prussia-I also found out that he spendt some time on
Insel-Rugen where my great grandfather Albert Zube was born. My cousin met another Zube
in Germany. He said his grandfather says the Zubes orginally came from France and were forced out of
France during the religious wars in the 15th century. I have not been able to document this.
My branch came to the States in 1865.

A Charles F., Oscar, Edward R.amd Bertha Zube lived in Meriden in 1880 to 1925, all were born in Germay, possibly Hamburg. I know what happened to Bertha. Charles (a carpenter) died there. Oscar was a watchmaker that left Meriden. Does anyone know what happened to them? A relative "thought they went to California". Any clues? email, please

My GG Grandmother was Auguste Zube. She married John Wosener. They were from Danzig West Prussia. I only know of one child's name, my G grandmother Auguste Wosener who was born July 3, 1872 in Danzig. Auguste Wosener married Carl Koeth son of Julius and Justine Koeth. He was born January 15, 1872 in Nueunburg West Prussia. Auguste and Carl were married May 12, 1892 in Racine Wisconsin. John Wosener and Auguste Zube lived and died in Racine, Wisconsin. According to St. Johns' Lutheran Church records of Racine Wisconsin, There were at least three sons and two other daughters, but I do not know their names. Does any of this sound familiar?

My gggrandmother was Augiest Zube. She married my gggrandfather John Woesner. They had three children that I am aware of; Augusta, Ida and a son whose name I do not know. My ggrandmother Augusta was born in Danzig (now Gdansk) Poland. The came to the US between 1872 and 1889. Ida married a Bill Lindberg. They resided in either the Milwaukee or the Racine Wisconsin area. Does this fit in with your Zube family?
