My great Grandfather came over from Germany and changed ZSchau to Schau because he thought it was easier to say. Any connections?

Yes, my great-great grandfather came over from Germany and changed ZSchau to Schau. So now it is Schau for everyone in the US

What was your 2nd great-grandfather's first name and from where in Germany did he immigrate?

Dear Molly, you Zschau/Schau great-great grandfather might not be that difficult to trace if you had more information. The surname is very rare and for the most part I believe they all came from the same area in Germany.

My mother and late father have done extensive research on the Zschau surname over the past 20 years or so. My GGpa arrived from Germany when he was 11 months old, in 1866. I'd love to compare ancestral names, dates, etc and possibly fill in some of the blanks.

Hi Cheryl,

I am a ZSCHAU through my mother's paternal lineage. I am very interested in your branch of the ZSCHAU family and in particular would like to hear about the research your parents have done.

My 2nd great grandfather Gottlieb ZSCHAU arrived in New York City 03 July 1869 and married his sweetheart Susanna GRIESBACH 14 August 1869 in Greenfield, Franklin County, MA. Gottlieb was born 28 September 1843 in Wöllnau, Merseburg, in the Prussian province of Saxony.

My ZSCHAU's settled in the Greenfield/Montague area of western MA. I have heard of a ZSCHAU family from Germany that settled in Wisconsin but I have yet to find a link to them. There are so few ZSCHAU descendants I am convinced we should be able to find a connection someday.

Please contact me at rascalz98@yahoo.com and we can swap more detailed info.

My 2GGpa came from Germany from the Berlin or Munich area. He also might have settled in Wisconsin because most of my reletives have lived in WI and the mid- west area. I am hoping to find out information on this man. Email me @ Jollymolly23@aol.com if you get any info.
Thanxs,
Molly

Nancy-
I am ZSchau from my faters paternal lineage. We have found more information and have decided that my 2GGpa came from Berlin. Then around the 1920's he came to the US. His son Herbert Charles Schau was my great-grandfather. His son Charles Schau is my grandfather. Then his son Randall Schau who is my father. Herbert Schau started the family business that we still have today.
