My surname is Berel and my great great grandparents were from Breslau, Prussia, Germany. I have found only one other family with this surname and always am curious when I see the name as a given name. In your query there is a Berel. Have you ever seen this name as a surname or only as a given name? Thanks

Thank you for your comment. Berel is the surname in our family. I have found only one other family of Berel's in the US. There are a couple other families but their names were changed when they came through Ellis Island. I have recently discovered that there is a village in Germany named Berel. I wish there was a way to find out information on this village.
Thanks again,
Pat Berel

My last name is Zloccowick. Do you think there is any relation?

I know one of out ancestors came over from Austria, but sadly that is all we have to go on.
