My husband is a Zgarba and the rumor in his town (which there are a few Zgabay's) is that hey are related? Zgarba is originated from Czech Rep. Is there any validity to this?

Noticed the name ZGARBA. You didn't mention a town or state. Wondering if they would be Texas and maybe Caldwell or Burleson Co.

I have a LOUISE (ALOISE) FILIP ZGARBA DUBCAK. Her first husband was JOE ZGARBA. I don't know when JOE ZGARBA died. They had two children that died very young. LOUISE is my gr gr aunt. This all happened around 1900. I don't have any information on JOE ZGARBA.

Could this be the connection and would you have any information on Joe?

In my previous message I stated that LOUISE FILIP married a JOE ZGARBA. The date was June 6 1881. I just realized I didn't include in my message that LOUISE FILIP ZGARBA DUBCAK's daughter Mary married LOUIS ZGABY. If your ZGARBA and ZGABAY are anywhere near Caldwell Tx, could this be why the names are connected?

Since my first 2 messages I've come across a connection for Zgarba and Zbabay/Zgaby.

I have Frank Skopik b. about 1875 married to Annie Zgaby b. about July 1877. I'm not sure yet why Annie's name isn't listed as Zgabaj or Zgabay. Frank's mother is Marianna Zgarba Skopik b. November 06, 1855. She married August Skopik b. July 20, 1838 on January 21, 1873. They got the marriage license in Colorado County.

Please contact me. I have a lot of information and your Zgarba and my Zgarba may be connected. I connect with the Skopik family.

Hi Kathy, my Great Grandmother was Mary R (Marianna) Zgarba, my Dad, August Skopek's grandmother. I am also familiar with the the Zgabay family in the Deanville area. I think they are two different families. I know my Dad pronounced the names in 2 different ways, and I did not get the impression that they were the same family

Hi, My husband is also a Zgarba. Marianna Zgarba (Skopik) was his Great Grandfather's (August Zgarba) sister. Their parents were Josef and Marianna and immigrated in 1871from Moravia. I would be very interested in any other information you have.
