Indeed, Zea and Cea are the same.
If you want to know your ancestors, please check on this same search under Bermudez.
You find the Cea original family up to the 600ths ...
Greetings
Maria José

Hi, I saw your post on ancestry. I have a William Aea married to Laura Blackman. They had a son John Willim Zea born 1835 who lived in LaHogue. He and Laura had a son, Harry Ernst Zea, born 1868 in Piper City, Illinois. Do you have any other info??

Tammy - I am researching the Zea family also. Inherited a lot of data from my dad, who passed away a couple years ago. I have William Zea and his son, John William Zea. I have 9 children of John William and his wife, Mary, who also had 9 children. I have Harry E. Zea born on Oct 3, 1868, though my data does not have the place. My family is descended from Sherman Leon Zea, one of the other sons of JW and Mary.

Zea or Cea is of Galician origin. There is a town in Spain called San Cristovo de Cea. There is another town in Colombia called San Cristobal de la Ceja. Ceja means "peak" and in Old Spanish was written as Ceha. In Galician, "h" is mute, so it became Cea. Meaning is somebody that comes from the peak of the mountain.
There is a City in Venezuela called Zea, named after Francisco Zea, first Vice President of the Great Colombia (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia).
There are 192 families with the Zea name in the U.S. During the US Civil War, there were three Zea soldiers in the U.S. Army and one Zea soldier in the Confederate Army. There is a street in a village in South Carolina, called Zea.
According to Ellis Island files, most of the Zeas arrived from Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Spain. There were also Zeas that came from Italy, that probably comes from the Latin word "Zea" that means "corn".
There are Zeas all over Europe. A female rapper in France, a guitarist in Eslovenia, etc

Hi, I'm a Zealy. My grandparents lived in Georgia for a long time and are also related to the Knox family. What kind of information have you been able to track down? I'm just getting started.
