Brick walls are all I run into. My great grandfather Andrew Yuskanice was born in 1886 and died in 1964. He married Anna Novak and had 2 sons Andrew and Paul and 4 daughters Lorraine(my grandmother), Sophie, Silva, and Marion.

Please if any of this rings a bell, e-mail me or post to me.

Thank you
Tammy

Dear Tammy,
No more brick walls! I am the daughter of Andrew, son of your great-grandfather. Andrew Yuskanice Sr. was my grandfather.
Andrew, my father, and Paul are still living.
I have one sister, Veronica. Paul has a daughter and son, Paul Jr. who is the only
person to carry the Yuskanice name. Please
e-mail back. Jean

Tammy,
My husband had an ancestor named Tom Yuskanic
from the Wilkes Barre area. He changed his
last name to Smith, and later to Smythe and
moved to the Buffalo area.

There are so many of my Great-grandfather's family I don't know about I could not say yes or no on your Tom. My mother said just today that his family was from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Area. That's all I know. Until I get intouch with my great-aunt. If I find out anything I will post it.

Hi Leon, I would think that you are my first cousin. It's nice to meet you over the internet. I sent your greetings to my dad. He sends his regards. He is doing well for his age. My mom, Helen is also doing well. I have one sister, Veronica. We call her "Roni". I'm sorry I cannot help you with our grandfathers date of birth or death. I would think that it's because he changed his surname. He and his offspring are the only people who use the Yuskanice surname. There are others who used the Yuskanic version. Actually, I think the original name started with a "J" rather than a "Y" because the "J" in Polish is actually pronounced with a "Y" sound. So, my thoughts are that the name was americanized to the way it sounded. Anyway, it's alot to research. If I find out anything new, I will message you. Keep in touch. Jean

Hi Jeanne, My name is Jean Piatek. My maiden name is Yuskanice. My father's name is Andrew Yuskanice Jr. We live in the Buffalo area. I understand that you or your husband have a relative with the last name of Yuskanic. I believe that it is another version of our last name which probably was americanized because it was difficult to pronounce. It would be interesting to know more about your husbands family. Jean

Hi Jean it was so good to hear from you and thanks for the information. I sure is alot of work but worth it all. I live in New Mexico just outside Santa Fe.
I am Married and have 5 children 4 daughters and 1 son. I found out when our grandfather died. He was Born on the
11th of May 1886 and died on Nov.1964. I was in Spain playing war games in the Marine Corps. I am a disabled Vet due to agent orange exposure. They used that to kill the trees and bushes. But who knew it would latter kill us.
I always admired your dad and can remember wanting to go and live with him and not stay in Scranton. Listen I will keep in touch always. Your cousin Leon (God Bless you all)
