Our daughter, Jennie D'Amico, married David Christopher Haluska in 2010. His father was Michael, who died in 2006, and his father, George John, who died in 2011, are related to Julia Haluska. Please check out what we're trying to add to our genealogy. This is David's father's obituary from Sept, 2011.

GEORGE J. HALUSKA
In Memory of George John “Shag” Haluska January 6th, 1923 – August 11th, 2011 George John “Shag” Haluska, Lcdr USNR and Captain with Delta Airlines was born on January 6th, 1923 in Ashland PA. He was a World War II, Korean and Vietnam Veteran. George flew a total of 34 years and began his flight career at age 19 in the Pilot Training program with the United States Navy. He obtained his wings in June of 1944 and remained in the Navy for 25 years. Throughout his career, George flew a range of aircraft including the F4U Corsair, the Super Constellation, DC-3, DC-7, and 727. He held a range of diverse positions from Patrol flying in Hawaii, a flight instructor teaching young pilot’s acrobatics in the Pilot Training program at Pensacola US Naval Air Station to flying as R5D Plane Commander, VR1 Transport Pilot at Patuxent River MD and on to an executive officer at NAS El Centro CA. Following his two terms in the USN he then remained in the USNR program. George continued to fly with North East Airlines based out of Boston MA and retired as a Delta Captain flying 727’s in 1976. George was a life time member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and in his youth was an avid tennis player. Most recently he was a resident along with his wife in Coronado CA. George was the youngest of seven. His parents, Michael and Marya (Skutchka) Haluska were immigrants from Ukraine. During George’s second tour he met his future wife Ltjg MaryAnn Hawbolt USN of Boston MA. They had 4 children; Michael - deceased, R. Christopher of San Diego CA, Gregory John of San Diego CA and Marya Sophia of Alexandria VA. George also has four grandchildren: David Haluska, studying Dentistry at Boston University and his wife Jenny D’Amico-Haluska, a recent graduate of Harvard University, 2ndLt Nathan Haluska USAF and his wife Lee Ann Douglas- Haluska, both recent graduates of Embry-Riddle, Michelle Haluska to attend University of Maine and Melissa Haluska attending Florida Atlantic University. George is also survived by his sister whom he cherished, Sophie Gudleski of Frackville PA along with many nieces and nephews in the Pennsylvania area. Upon George’s passing his heart beat for 10 minutes and the Doctor stated “he has a good heart”……but we already knew that. We will miss his presence and vibrant opinions…..“To fly west my friend, is a flight we all must take for a final check!” HIGH FLIGHT Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sum-split clouds – and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of – Wheeled and sored and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there, I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless hills of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. – John Mcgee Jr.
