George Mercer Yuille Miller
I have a little information on George Mercer Yuille Miller (1797-1866) who was the son of William Miller (died ca. 1840) and, as the family histories say, "a Miss Yuille." I am descended from the second marriage of William Miller, to Agnes Crenshaw, but have been curious as to the identity of this "Miss Yuille." If she was connected to the Darleith Yuilles, that might mean that William Miller married her there in Scotland. I have no info on him (Birth date place)other than he was a scotsman and lived in Halifax and Pittsylvania Cos. in VA If you have any info on this situation, let me know, please. Thanks Hunter

Hello Gina. I am Jeffrey Leigh Yuille and my family came from Darleith House in Scotland in 1835 to Australia. I have all my line of the Yuilles in Australia and back to my Gt x 8 Grand Father John Zuill. Thomas Yuille is my Gt Gt Gt Gt Grand Fathers Brother( George Yuille). Thomas as you know was born in Scotland. I have only just found this and am happy now that I have found the link to our American Cousins. I have been to the U.S.A. 3 times and twice to Virginia mainly to visit Civil War sites etc as I study that subject. Apart from Yuilles in the 2nd 12 th Virginia Cavalry there was one with the 34th Virginia Infantry and 2 in Alabama units. But last week I found a John P M Yuille who was with the 42nd Virginia formed in Campbell/Halfax Counties. Now I am trying to link him with Thomas or his Brother JPM Yuille. I Think you know of Tony Martin who is my Ilk and share the same Gt GT Grandfather. Can you assist please. Best wishes Jeff Yuille

The Civil War has never been my specialty so I do not know much except what Early said in "Campbell Chronicles" that John Matteau, Philip Payne Alexander Campbell all served in the Conf. Army around Lynchburg. J.P.M.with Gen. McCausland. I also have a John C. Yuille with the Alabama State Artillery Battery (Ketchum's-Garrity's Art. Battery. Don't know if that is Alex C. or John P.(probably the latter)His dau. Malvina m.in Ala. JOhn Peter Matteau's bros were:Wm.Murdock, Thomas, Andrew Phillip Payne, Alexander and Fletcher Campbell. Sisters:Helen and Sue. Hope this helps. GCB
