By checking the English marriage records (using the Certificate Ordering Service/ONS) I found that my great uncle, Morris, was married in Mile End, Old Town, London, England (East London Synagogue) under the name Yudavitch. When he came to the US he went under the name Yudin/Yuden. His son, in early US census records, was referred to as "Harry" Yudin but was known in the US through the years as "Hilly". I am having trouble finding Harry/Hilly birth records in England (I checked the same certificate ordering service information), although I know from family sources that he was born in England in the same area as his parents were married.
Harry became a naturalized American citizen "under his father's papers", using the name, Yudin. He also married a Canadian woman (who had been born in England also) and moved to Canada, becoming a naturalized Canadian citizen as well.
