Hello,
My name is: Ann Marie Andrashie Ducommun. I live in Wisconsin in the United States. I am the daughter of: Andrew
August Andrashie and Mary Ellen Tomac Andrashie.
I am searching my father's family's origin. Very little is known about ether one of my grandparents or what our family's true
name is due to their immigration to this country in the early 1900's and surviving families failing memories.
I am told that my Grandfather's name was originally: Joseph August Andrasi. He was believed to of been born in what is now
Broadaslavia Yugoslavia. He had 1 brother and 2 sisters. His parents died when he was a young boy at the age of 12. My
grandfather was taken in by a doctor and his wife. He worked for them as a stable boy.
When he got older, he married: Veronica Lescoveonski, from Slovakia. Joseph came to America around 1905 through
Pennsylvania. During his immigration Andrasi was changed to Andrashie.
He worked his way up to Ironwood Michigan where he worked in the Iron ore mines. He saved money to send for Veronica
around 1909. She came through Alis Island along with their Daughter Julia, who died shortly afterwards.
During these early years, Joseph's brother came to the States but went back to his native country.
There was a family rumor that one of our decedents held the title of "Count".
Nothing is known about ether one of my grandparents siblings.
I have been told that all court records had been destroyed during world war 2.
If anyone knows anything about ether Andrasi or Lescoveonski, I would like to hear from them. Joseph and Veronica had:
4 son's and 3 daughters, 4 which are still living and have families.
Thank you,
Ann
