My husband's has Yslas/Islas in his line. I have seen it spelled both was. There were 2 sisters who married 2 brothers. Carmen Bernal Islas married Adolfo Andrade Loustaunau. Teresa Bernal Islas mrried Wenceslao Loustaunau. Their father was Francisco Islas (or Yslas as it appears in old documents)The family was from Sonora, Mexico. From what I have found they are Spanish. Will have more about family,I hope soon.

I read you Islas and de Anza connection. I have family that I have traced to El Rosario,Sinaloa, Mex. We have record on Concepcion Islas de La Fuente, born 1900.
Her grandfather was Francisco Islas. Francisco's siblings were Eduardo,Hortensia,Margarita and Adela. We will assume born in either Acaponeta or ElRosario circa 1830's
Francisco married Marianna Blanco Miranda
Her father was and Englishman Thmas White who changed his name to Tomas Blanco.
Theres plenty more but we're looking for any
relatives who may fit the bill.
We were also told that the Islas were related to the family of Juan Bautista de Anza..
any other info will be appreciated
