CANFIELD, Ohio – Elizabeth A. Yozwiak, 89, passed away July 24, 2014, at the Inn at Ironwood. Elizabeth was born May 23, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Tilicky Machuga, and was a lifelong area resident.
She graduated as a registered nurse in 1946 from the Youngstown Hospital Association and worked as an industrial nurse for Republic Steel for 24 years, retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Yozwiak was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown, OH.
She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Group at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church and was a member of the Catholic Nurses Association.
She leaves two sons, Dr. Raymond A. (Bobbie) Yozwiak of Lexington, Ky., and Robert R. (Stacy) Yozwiak of Canfield; Ohio; a daughter, Karen (Robert) Shuttleworth of Canfield, OH; seven grandchildren, Lynn (Douglas) Shodd, Bob Shuttleworth, Ashley (Brett) Bartholomew, R.J. Yozwiak, Frank Yozwiak, Carrie Yozwiak, and Nicole Yozwiak; and two great-grandchildren, Kalleigh and Khloe Shodd.
Her husband, Raymond C. Yozwiak, whom she married in 1948, passed away Dec. 6, 2004. Four brothers, Frank Machuga, Atty. Robert Machuga, Atty. William Machuga, and Joseph Machuga; and three sisters, Helen Machuga, Mary Machuga and Julie Tilicky, are also deceased.
Family and friends may call on Monday, July 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown, OH.
Funeral services will be begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Elizabeth will be laid to rest next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512 or any nursing scholarship.
