I have a death certificate for William Yoxall, aged 63, who died 6th Jan 1858 in the Union Workhouse, Nantwich, Cheshire.
Does anyone have any information about his life, please.

This death record has long been a mystery to me. From his age at death one could assume he was the William YOXALL who was transported to Australia. However, that William apparently died in Liverpool, New South Wales, the information being provided by a descendant of his. Does anyone know if there were any records kept of the convicts who did return to England after serving their sentence? I know they had to be given an Absolute Pardon to be able to return. I have a copy of his Certificate of Freedom.
Regards......Joan
