Hi,
This is just to get the "Board" going.
I am trying to locate the birth of Benjamin YOXALL who was born between 1620 and 1640. He died in Minshull Vernon in 1709.
Any ideas as to traqcing him.
Please contact me if you are also tracing the Yoxalls of the Crewe/Nantwich/Middlewich area.
Cheers,
Peter Byford

Hi, I have a Thomas Yoxall b. 1806 in Crewe. He had a son called George Yoxall. Thomas' father was called William Yoxall. I think that Thomas Yoxall married my Jane Crabtree, who was a widow, on 16 Aug 1863 Manchester. Please let me know if you have anything of interest. I have difficulty in finding anything about Jane and the Yoxalls. Thanx Chris chris.lane17@ntlworld.com

Chris,
My wife's Yoxalls were in the Crewe/Middelwich/Nantwich area of Cheshire.
We do have a couple of Thomas about that time but neither has William as a father. If you find a Cheshire link then i can probably help. For the moment I cannot.

Ken,
I am sending a reply through email including a report.
I think that I have your william . He was a son of William Yoxall and his wife Emily Yoxall. Yes she was a Yoxall as well. In fact we have two lines of Yoxalls in the area at this time. Known as the "Moses & Elizabeth" and "Benjamin" lines William is a descendant of Moses & Elizabeth whilst Emily is descended from Benjamin, albeit one of the links is illegitimate (James son of Mary Yoxall).

I am trying to find the link between my Nightingale relatives in Cheshire and the Yoxall family. I know that Mary Yoxall (born 1861in Leighton, Cheshire) married Samuel Nightingale (born 1856 in Church Minshull,Cheshire), and that they had at least 1 child, Edith Nightingale, born1881. If anyone has any additional data in either time direction I'd be grateful!

Hi Stephanie, Yes I have details of Mary Yoxalls ancestry back to Benjamin born in the mid 1600s. Her parents were John Y and Dinah Dobson. Send me an email and I can provide a GEDCOM if that helps - only proviso is that we are off to Oz on friday for 7 weeks. I only have Edith and no further info about her or Sam. I do have a lot of Nightingales (but 20th century descended from another line). Regards, Peter Byford I will try and send you a copy of this by direct email and copy it to other researchers who may be able to help if I am not around

Hi Peter, Greetings from Sydney, Australia. I've just commenced an ancestral search and have been stopped at the arrival of a William Yoxall in Sydney on July 12 , 1824 on board the "Countess of Harcourt". It seems he was transported as a convict !!! Other details I have found reveal he was born on 21.2. 1796 at Wermingham, Ches. Now , I'm wondering if you can provide any information that might help me continue the search. My relationship to him is as a great x 3 grandson , following a name change by his son , John who married as " York" in 1857. I do hope you will be able to help in finding some more links. I have some history of his family in Australia if any of the network is interested. Hoping to hear from you soon, best wishes Bernie York

Bernie, Your details tally with ours, please contact me direct and I can give your more information. There is confusion as to where he died, Liverpool Uk or NSW, we have deaths of Wm of the right age in both places. A couple of other researchers are interested in this line more than I am. Details of his trial below, he was married twice incidentally - in UK (Ellen Sandbach) and Oz (Julia Casey). REgards, Peter .
