Which line do you descend from and do you know what ship they might have arrived on or who the first ancestors definately are?

hi again jimmy, would you happen to know 'where' william yowell orginated from? i have he was born 1801 in ky m.lucy ship in27 dec 1791 in culpepper va..at least i would know where i 'started at'LOL besides all the stories,, kitty

hi there elizabeth,,, the origin of the yowell name for our line is from germany from CHRISTOPHER UHL 1707 & into virgina about the mid 1700's ope this helps, kitty

if most of the 'yowells' camme from the Christopher Uhl & his wife Eva GOTTSAURIN its german orgin Chris *his wife eve came into va about 1717. But i was raised that my grandpa bud Yowell was a 3rd cousin to Napoloean & was always told it was french so this is another direction im goin in(bud dads was that of Napolean Boneparte Yowell m. to a rosetta roberts the 1st time & martha hane brown the 2nd} thanks kitty

This is quite interesting. As far as I can tell my "Yowell" line comes from Christopher UHL of Germany. I have never heard anything of a French connection at all. My father said Norwegian and Scottish when I was growing up. But when I started researching the family line I found that it is actually more German and English before coming to America. Don't know anything of any French connection at all.
