this sad tale from a Mon 9 Jan 1933, FL Jacksonville Journal-
Asheboro NC Jan 9- Discovery of Wilbur Yow, age 14, shot to death, propped up against a bed with 2 guns crossed before him, and of the boy's chum critically wounded, plumped a strange slaying mystery into the hands of officers today.
Clyde Cranford, 15, the wounded boy, said only that he was shot by an unseen assailant. He apparently did not know his chum had been killed and his condition would not permit lengthy questioning.
Cranford, wounded by a shotgun charge, was found in a corn patch yesterday afternoon by a neighbor of Mr and Mrs Jessie Yow, Wilbur's parents.
Officers summoned to investigate the the shooting of Cranford went into the Yon(sic) home and found Wilbur. The boys had been left alone in the home.
Tiffany barnes the county coroner said he had not theory whatsoever about the slaying.
