My 5x g'grandfather was William Youel 1734-1834 who married Elizabeth Nelson. They emigrated from Stirling Scotland in about 1864. I am a descendent of his second son James George Wilson Youel. The house that Wm. Youel built in Virginia near Goshen still stands and is called the Condon House. James G.W. Youel also built a house in approx. 1730 which is called Maxwellton.
Both of these houses are still in use. A cousin of mine has done a tremendous amount of research on this family.

My, father (Hamilton Youel Smith) is the son of Mary Eloise Curry Youel Smith...daughter of WTJ and Damaris Youel of Fairfax, MO. We can trace our roots back to VA and my father also attended the family reunion there in the 80's. If you can find the family tree I would love to view it! Thank you!

It sounds like you are a descendant of William Youel and Elizabeth Nelson. If WTJ stands for William Thomas Jackson, then I know exactly how you fit in. I compiled my own Microsoft Word outline of the descendants of William and Elizabeth (Nelson) Youel. I also added some information as I found it. You can contact me directly. Not sure if my email address displays here but type my first name gary (at) and then allinderlee.com (make sure to watch the Allinder spelling).

I forgot to say that the starting point of the Microsoft Word outline I created was what was in the "Youel Log" newsletters.

We seem to get a little closer on the line -- I see the Curry surname.. was that Issac Addison Curry who married Margaret Kerr Youel? If so, that is my line too. Their daughter Ida Seabrook Curry m. Samuel Jewell who were my grandmother's parents.

Yes it is! My Grandmother's father, William T.J.Youel, was the son of James Madison Youel who was a brother to your Margaret Kerr Youel.

My Aunt (Lee Ida Smith Alexopolous) was most likely named after your relative. I have an old family photo album with funeral notices for James M. Youel; Mary Ann Youel; and Julia Mary Curry along with several photos that my Grandmother was unsure of who they were.
