Some recent discoveries about this family:
John was alive in July 1833, when he was presented with a gold snuff box (pictured online). He died intestate later that same year, leaving estate of £1500, administratrix was Narcissa Youds, Liverpool.
Variously described as merchant, ships chandler, ship owner and plantation owner, but not slave trader. He also probably met Charles Darwin in 1832 in Bahia. Age at death not known, therefore not sure how he is linked to John Youds & Elizabeth Rothwell and their sons James and Henry, who were also 'late of Bahia'.
His wife was probably Aimee Narcisse Charlotte Gantois, born 1803 in Mons, Belgium.
5 children: John, he later owned shops and died in Rio in 1873
Charles, business partner with John, was alive in Sao Paulo in 1869
