Looking for further info on John Youds sen. of Liverpool, who was a chandler and slave trader in Bahia, Brazil, he died there in 1833. Also his sons James (1805-1858)who mostly lived in Liverpool and John, b. 1826 in Bahia, who worked for a Belgian company Gantois & Paillet, ship chandlers of Bahia, who operated a fleet of ships trading between Brazil and West Africa and were involved in the slave trade.

I am a decendent of James Youds. (Born 1805 Liverpool).
I would be very interested in trading information that you have managed to dig up!

I did recently find a list of four ships including the Sooy that were operated by Gantois.

Could I ask if you have a family connection?

Best regards,
