Hi Kim,

My Youdens are mostly in Canada, although some are scattered around the US, in New England, Virginia, California, Texas, and New York.

I am aware of Youdens in Australia, and believe they originated in England, possibly Devon. There are also Youdens in Yorkshire. I haven't been able to connect them yet, but am working on it. Do you know where your grandfather was born?

The Thomas Youden I'm researching was a ships' captain, and I have found a record of him sailing from the US to Sydney Australia in July, 1840. He lived in Newfoundland, Canada, and died there in 1876. Most of his life was spent at sea, and there is always the possibility of finding other children of his turning up in other parts of the world.

Hi my name is James Youden and i live in Sydney Australia and was searching for "Youden" on the web. We here in Sydney know of a few people that have our last name, but there are only about 10-15 of them, in about 3-4 families (all related - obviously...). My great-grandfather was Herbert Alexander Youden, fought in WWI, he had three of four brothers who all fought in the war and nearly all died.
My grandfather, Richard Youden is researching the Youden name and he would greatly appreciate any info. please email me if you want to get in touch, at <jayouden@hotmail.com>
see ya

Hello James,

I have responded to you by email. If you know any ancestors of Herbert Alexander Youden, I'd appreciate it if you'd post them. Herbert doesn't appear in my database, but there are many Youdens who left Newfoundland in the 1800's and he may connect to one of them.
