If anyone can help me with my search I would appreciate it very much. I am the granddaughter of Edward Yott and Melvina Charbanneau. I likely spelled Grandma's name wrong. I am trying to research the Yott/Huot line. I do know Grandpas mother was Victorie (Nancy) Labadie, and his father was Eduord Yott. I believe Eduords parents were Francois and Mathilde (Mary) Yott and lived in Pain Court, Ontario. If anyone can help me get further into my Yott ancestry, again it will be appreciated.

Thank you for responding to my query. I recall my father telling me that my gr-gr-grandfather Francois had a brother named Joseph who took over the raising of my gr-grandfather Eduord. I believe Joseph raised him in Dover and Francois had lived in Pain Court with his wife Mathilde (Mary). I also heard that beside having Eduord and Joseph they had several children. If this info helps I'd surely appreciate any further help you may be able to give me. Again thank you for responding.

I really don't know much about my family history and i'm trying to find out myself. All i know is that my last name is yott, my father's name is gary yott, and my grandpa's name is lorne yott. I'm not sure who his father is, but we're all from Chatham,Ontario. If anyone knows anything I'd really like to know the origin about our surname.. I've been interested for years now. I'd just like to know the nationality. I heard it could be french, but also german? it's confusing. If anyone knows anything it would be great. Thanks!

Not to get your hopes up, but I may be able to help you. My family are Yott's and originally lived in Pain Court, Ontario. I do know that some of my gr-gr-grandfathers brothers moved to Dover and Grande Pointe. I did hear that members of their offspring moved to Chatham. The Yott(Huot) name is very old French. Now there is what I thought was a Dutch version which is spelled Jad(g?)t, and pronounced the same as Yott. Is there anyway you can find out who your gr-grandfather was? That would sure help. Best of luck, and let me know when you can.

My father Louis Yott is your grandfather,Lorne Yott's brother. Your great grandfather's name was Nelson Yott and great grandmother was Marion (Burrell). It was always a toss up too about the nationality. I always heard it was French.
