If yo can add to it, the NC Yoders are working toward a
republication and expansion on the book of descendants for Conrad Yoder--target date 2005. And your full descendant dat would be very welcome. Sen to me at: cyoder@tds.net

Con82 George William Yother, Sr. of Union county Georgia was born
May 9, 1809 and died May 6, 1866. He married Elizabeth Abercrumbie in
1833. (Your notes indicate he may have fought in the Civil War. I found a
George Yother listed in the union in the 6th Tennessee Mounted Infantry,
Co. A and I found a George Yother listed in the confederate army with
the 38th NC Infantry, Co. F, I don't know if either one is who we are
looking for.) Elizabeth Abercrumbie was born April 14, 1817 and
died Dec 24, 1880.
+Con821 - Wilson Yother born Jan 18, 1835
Con822 - John J. Yother born Feb 12, 1837. Died 1864
The family book says "John fought in the Civil War. At the age of 27
He was missing in action, he was killed in 1864 in the Rossville Gap where
now stands the Iowa Monument. His entire company went to General
Thomas at Chickamauga after a hard fight against Gen. Bragg's Army on
Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga." (My grandfather indicates in his notes
that John fought for the union but so far I have not been able to locate a
John Yother fighting for the union. I have only looked in the southern
states though. I did find three John Yothers listed as fighting for the
Confederate side. {10th Missouri Infantry, Co. F/ 19th Tennessee Infantry
Co. F/ and the Cherokee Legion Infantry, State Guard, Co. D} I checked the
roster for the Cherokee Legion Guard and found two Yother's but they were
the wrong age and I have not discovered rosters for the other units yet.)
Con823 - Mariah Jane Yother was born Dec 6, 1839, died July 18, 1887.
She married Robert Jackson July 10, 1856. Robert died July 28, 1856.
In 1858 Mariah married Isaac Reed. Isaac was born May 9, 1837, died
Oct 6, 1875. They had one daughter, Lizzie Jane Reed (my grandfather's
mother) who was born Jan 23, 1868. in 1877 Mariah married James
Futerel.
Con824 - James Fate Yother was born 1842. He left home and went
west. (?Yother James D died 06/02/1862 Pvt Co C 5 Tenn Inf 6 2 1862 Bur
Barboursville Ky Plot: F )
Con825 - Adam David Yother was born June 15, 1848
Con826 - George W. Yother, Jr. was born Nov 12, 1849 and died 1914.
He married Bell Clemons in 1880 and they had no children.
Con827 - Sarah Ann Yother was born Feb 28, 1852 and she died March 24, 1927 in Mowbry Community, Hamilton County, Tennessee. She married Jess Brown in July 17, 1873. Jess was born in 1853 and died in 1907. He served in the Kentucky Calvary Co. I, 13th Regiment, in the War of the Rebellion They had 5 sons and 2 daughters.
Con828 - (Not mentioned in my grandfather's record)
Con829 - Mary Yother was born Jan 9, 1861. She married Joe Stringer
in 1885. Joe was born in 1860. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters.

That is all the information in my grandfather's record book, I'm sorry
there is not more but hopefully this helps to fill in a few little gaps. Like
I said, I'm not sure how accurate the information is but at least it's a
starting point. Thanks again for the Yoder web site, it's really wonderful.

Chris,
You and I have chatted by e-mail a couple of times. My father went to his sister's and photocopied family information from his father's bible. I am a school teacher and because it is "back to school time" I haven't been able to get it to you yet. I will, though. We want to be included in the book!

I just found this message board and am wondering if y'all know anything about Georgia Yother, who married William Washington Van Zant? Her parents were Alfred W Yother and Sarah A (can't find her maiden name). Georgia was born in 1868, married William in 1889 and died in 1938 in OK. Sarah and William were my gg grandparents. If I can put all this together and it ties in with what is being compiled I'd love to talk about including my info with yours. I understand there is a book coming out in 2005. Please contact me at ga_scarletlady@yahoo.com
Thanks. Sheila

I have only recently delved into trying to find my husbands ancesters, so the only info. I have at the moment is that William Van Zant's parent's were John G. Van Zant & Margaret Smart. & William's children are:
Myrtle V. b. 5-1-1900, John V. b. 10-3-1901, Ethel V. b. 8-20-1903, Clayton V.(who happens to be my husbands grandfather) b. 5-13-1904, Willie V. 4-7-1905, & Carrie V.b. 1-28-1908. I received this info. from the 1920 Roff, Ok. school census. Clayton V. m. Trubie Parker (supposedly a descendant of chief Quanah Parker) & had 2 sons Ray Van Zant who now resides in Ks. & Arnold Lee Van Zant who happens to own the old Roff School and is my husband Robert Van Zant's father & we live in Ada, Ok. & we have 3 sons Robert jr., Joshua, & Ezekiel Van Zant.
