Hi, I am hitting a dead end with my maternal g-grandmothers family. She was Lillie York (B. 8/1/1890)she first married W.D. Rogers, 2nd marriage to my g-grandfather John Tom York, he was known as "Black Dutch Tom", we are not sure what this term means since I have been given various definitions. My grandmother Lillie was born in York, TN. But we don't know any info before that. John Tom through oral history was thought to be kin to SGT.Alvin York? I would appreciate any info. Thanks.

There's a John Thomas YORK in my line. His brother James M. YORK was my great-grandfather. John Thomas YORK was born in TN, but James M. YORK was born in AL. They both moved to East Texas. Is this the same John Thomas York you are working on? Email me at reba@simplynet.net

Not sure if I can touch base with you again or not since it has been so many years but I am giving it a shot my Grandmother Lillie's maiden name was York. She 1st married W. D. Rogers and her second marriage was to Job Davis my g-grandfather. So sorry I had all the info messed up earlier. Her father was John Tom York who was said to have been Black Dutch. Please contact me directly at slr1216@twc.com. Thank you for any help.
