Re: Matthew James Yore, son of Peter Yore
Matthew James Yore was my great-great grandfather. His father was Patrick Yore and his mother was Catherine Redmond. Matthew's wife was Mary Elkins. They had 7 children Arthur, James, William, Frances, Patrick Eugene, Margaret and Katherine (My great-grandmother). Are there more than one? I've heard the there were two seperate Yore families in St. Joseph/Benton. It gets rather confusing.

Re: Matthew James Yore, son of Peter Yore
Yes there were more than one Yore family in Benton Harbor. Matthew settled there first. They were related to my branch in Lake County. The families intermingled and many ended up in Chicago working at the Yore dairy for a time. Some of the BH/St. Joseph Yores ended up over in Lexington near Detroit and then back around the Kalamazoo areas. The family was registered at St. John's Catholic Church and there are a couple of the stained glass windows that bear the family names. I have tried several times to get the sacramentals from the church to no avail. There is a branch of the BH/St. Joe Yore's that settled in Louisianna that are into the 2nd or 3rd generation there. many then ended up in St. Joe and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. There are Yores in Hartford and Watervliet today. It is confusing because so many of the family groups married with same first and last names, brothers and sisters married in other family groups (Thomas Murphy for instance married a female Yore and the Male Yore married a female Murphy...just an example)

Re: Matthew James Yore, son of Peter Yore
Just to confuse you more, my ggrandmother was Mary Ruth Yore. The mother of Mary Ruth was Sarah Murphy, who married James A. Yore in St. Louis in 1849. I have hit a wall re my side of the Murphy/Yore clan as it relates to Sarah Murphy who was born around 1829 in PA.
