My Yore family came to the US from Ireland and ended up in MA. George Yore married Bridget Sheehan around 1900. They had 4 children. George Patrick 10/26/1901, Mildred 3/18/1903 (she joined the convent and became Sr. Mary Celine), Catherine Edith 1/3/1905 (she went by Edith and married William McAdoo) and John Vincent 9/10/1908. I believe Bridget died before 1920, as she is not listed in that census. Any and all info. greatly appreciated. Shanon Chaput

Hi Shannon,
I don't think I can be of much help. Our Yore family arrived here in the St. Joseph, Mich. area about 1840. There were Yores' already in the Lake Forrest, Ill. (N. of Chicago) area from the earlier 1800's. My GGF came over after his kids (he came about 1850, and went back about 1852. We have no knowledge of what he did, where he died, etc. after he returned to Ireland. Maybe he started an- other family and we are direct relatives. I will keep your email address on file and let you know if I have any news. I haven't posted my research on line as yet. I have over 1500 individuals in the data base with many Yore entries. It was nice to hear from you, and if you ever get to the area (we're 30 miles N. of N. Dame) stop in and we'd love to meet you.
Keep in touch as there are not that many Yore family members out there......

Hi Shannon,
I just showed your inquiry to my wife and she read it with great interest. She went to St. Marys Accademy (High school affiliated with SM Colleg) in Southg Bend and she wanted to know the order that Sr. Mary Celine was in. Unless a name was repeated, Sr. Mary Celine (Holy Cross) was her principal in the late '50's which would be about right age wise with Mildred.
Let us know. What a coincidence if it is the same person.
Regards, Mike Yore

Mike, thanks so much for getting back to me. I believe Sr. Mary Celine was a Sister of Notre Dame, but I am not sure. I have also just found some papers on the baptisms of the the Yore children. George's godparents were Lawrence Yore and Mary O'Connell, John's were Bernard Yore and Mary Minihan. The others did not have Yores as godparents. Thanks. Shanon

Sr. Mary Celine (Mildred Yore)
Mike, I spoke to my Mom and she said Sr. Mary Celine was not a Sister of Notre Dame. She said she remembered something about Jesuits. What can you tell me about your wife's Sr. Mary Celine? Shanon

Hi again, my wife is just coming out of surgery today, so I'll have to tell you what I remember. Sister Mary Celine wasn't of the Notre Dame order. I believe they were Holy Cross nuns. She was the principal at St. Marys Accadamy (High School) in South Bend. The High School was connected with St. Marys College in South Bend.
I will check this out again with my wife in a day orso when she is more coherant(sp).
Bye for now, Mike Yore
