Ohio Yordy Mystery

Ohio Yordy Mystery

My paternal grandmother was a Yordy from Ohio. I was able to trace back a few generations to a Catharine Yourdy (b 1819?) in the 1870 census for Miami twp, Montgomery County, OH, living alone with her three children.
In the 1880 census, she appears as Cathern Yortee. This time living with her son Fredrick's family (my gg grandfather).

On Fredrick's OH death cert, it lists his parents as Christian Yordy and Katherine Hoffecker. That is the only mention of his father I have found. However I am unable to find anything else about them.

Interestingly, there is a Joseph Yordy and family also living in the Miami twp about the same age and had the same last name spelling variants. Maybe a brother to Christian?

I finally found other evidence of Christian. I had to go page by page through the Ohio 1850 and 1860 census images.
The transcribed surname was not even close, but I added "yordy" as an alternate.
