I'm looking for a Peter Yordy, first husband of Magdalena Nissley (1762-1852). They were married briefly c. 1783, no children. I believe he died and left her a widow. She remarried John B. Swarr and had five children with him. Peter was possibly from Lampeter Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. The Swarrs lived near Landisville, Hempfield Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.

Virginia,
Does your Peter have a sister-Barbara? She married John Heisey (Heise).

I don't know anything about him except that he was briefly married to Magdalena Nissley, and he died.

Your relative was probably a son of one of the following Ulrich Yordy b. 1715,Jacob Yorty b.1723, Henry Yorty b. 1718, or Christian Yordy b.1729 all these were sons of a Peter Yordy (church of the Brethren) then residing in Millcreek, Lancaster Co. Pa.

The line used the name Peter often. Our lineage also began with a Peter Yordy but not the same as yours. The name has gone through many permutations due to the Swiss-German pronunciation. The name as "Yordy" has held for many people living in the mid-west, and the Peter Yordy of your search may have remarried to give some of those. Also the name Madeleine, spelled different ways was quite common for these folks.

Advise you trace the sons of the above named sons of the original Peter Yordy (Jordy). Hope this helps and good fortune to you.. I am a very distant relative.
