Hello, Primos

I've been doing extensive research and documentation of the families and their inter-connectedness, particularly Yorba, Abila/Avila, Pryor, Sepulveda, Bermudez, Ruiz, Verdugo, Carrillo, Rios, etc. etc.

I am a direct descendant of Jose Antonio Yorba (the first), Cornelio Abila/Avila, and Nathaniel Pryor (who married Teresa Sepulveda). Also a direct descendant of Efigenio Ruiz.

Contact me for exchanges of information, photographs, etc.

WSDEAN, MY NAME IS MICHAEL SEPULVEDA,GRANDSON OF JOSEPH SEPULVEDA B/ 1892-4,MOTHER UNKNOWN. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF HE WAS BORN TO A YORBA OR IF MY GRMOTHER WAS A YORBA. IF THERE IS ANY DNA I WOULD CHECK THAT,OTHERWISE IT WOULD BE HELPFULL TO CHECK TO SEE UR FAMILY TREE. I LOOKED AT THE PICTURE OF JAY YORBA AND THERE WAS A SHOCKING RESEMBLANCE IN FEATURES. THET BY ITSELF PROOFS NOTHING,I NEED TO FIND OUT MY GRANDMOTHERS NAME. UR TREE BEING SO LARGE COULD ANSWER THAT QUESTION. THANK U, MICHAEL

Hello again cousin,

Hope you are well, wondered if you were doing ok as I hadn't seen any posts from you in quite sometime. Happy 2012!

I have added some pictures of my mother, grandmother, celeste yorba, who married Alexander Bermudez. I have still been trying to find my great grandmother whom my mother says her name was avalina abila/avila... she was married to miguel yorba until his death. Today my mother told me that she believed that she then remarried to a Juan Martinez. My mother thankfully is still alive like the rest of the women of this family! If you can offer any threads of advise or if you have found any possibilities out there in your searches I would love to hear from you.

Let me know if you are able to see pictures... I have now gotten a scanner so I will be able to get a few more out here.

Margaret

Hello, Michael
Without more details there's no way to track back your relationship. There are Sepulvedas from all over, especially, of course Mexico, who only came to California much later than the original soldados named Sepulveda. They are not really related to the Californio Sepulvedas. There are, for example, Joseph Sepulvedas born about that time in Oregon and back East.

Send me more info. and I will try to track. Father's DOB and where born, etc.

Hello, Ed
Well, if they were coming that late from Sinaloa, it's a slim chance if any that they were closely related to the earlier settlers except through much later marriages.

The earliest Soto in my tree is Guillermo Soto b. 1751 in Real De Cozala,Sonora,Mexico d. 1819 in (probably) Los Angeles. He married Juana Maria Nieto at the Mision San Gabriel in 1787.

I have NO Sotomayors in my tree at all.

Hi, thanks for your reply, but all the records show dates as far back as 1516 and forward to the 1945. There are too many individuals on my FamilyTree DNA Chart for there not to be a recent connection. My most recent connection is to Domingo Ortega Soto who died in 1945, so the connection is there but I just can't locate it. Thanks anyways.
Have a good day. Ed

Hi, again Ed
This FamilyTreeDNA Chart...did you participate through male line or female line? or both? You sent a sample of your own DNA for testing and got back those results or what? Because it seems very strange to me. I'm not saying the results are wrong, but..just seems odd.

Secondly, if it's male DNA testing and you have Alvarado and/or Romero lines through later marriages father, grandfather, etc. then yes, it's possible through those lines but not through Soto/Sotomayor as far as I know. Both Alvarado and Romero have strong Californio ties, of course. Ortega as well.

Okay, it's through the Ortega line that you are connected to the Yorbas and Carillos. Jose Francisco Maria Ortega married Maria Francisca Dominga Yorba in 1811 at San Diego Mission. I don't have a listing of their children, but can check the Mission baptisms for you. And we can go from there...

Hi, thanks again, my test was on the female line, because that was the only test available to me. My Mother's connection is through the Carillo, Ortega and Soto's. Thanks for all your help but the only way I can solve this problem is to take a trip to Texas, which I will do this summer. In the mean time will continue to try and locate a living relative of Domingo, Alejandra and Mical from Lake Elsinore. Please do not bother researching any further because I do believe I did a through search. thanks for all your help and have a good day. Ed
