I am the granddaughter of a August Yops, and the great grandaughter of August Yops.... both of Wyandotte, Michigan. The first august immigrated from Leipzig, Germany in 1874, as did his brothers, Michael (1874) and Ernest (1880?). We believe that these men were brothers.

August was married to Emma, Michael to Louisa and Ernest to an Ida Horn. If you are a yops from the downriver area, can you disprove this information or add to it? Or can you inform us of your family tree so we can connect it to ours? It would be deeply appreciated, we have a lot of holes, but we are on our way into the German history!

Hi Alison, my Dad (Tom Yops) says that Ernst Yops immigrated in 1882. Where you able to open the family information sheets he sent in the previous emails? He is here with me and my brother Michael today in Wichita.

What information do you have about when the family name changed from Jobst to Yops as it is today? My dad has seen Jobs, Gobs, Yots, and Fobs. Who is Sandra? Is she a descendant of Ernst?
