I am the granddaughter of Samuel Freeman Yopp.He was born in the late 1800s. Not sure of the date.He married Ruth Powers and they had six daughters, one of which was my mother. Her name was Ruth Jean Yopp. Both grandparents are deceased as is my mother and three of her sisters that I know about. Most of the Yopps still live in North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina. And there are many cousins still around. When I was very young my father an out of stat soldier moved my mother and my sister and I to Kentucky. My mother and father divorced when I was about 12 but, my mother and my sister and brother and I went back almost every summer for visits. It was some of the best times of my childhood. There were always aunts and cousins there running up and down the beach. What fun we had.I am trying to locate Joey Thomas he is my cousin. His mother was Ada Yopp Thomas. He last lived in Wilmington,NC with his wife Lucinda and their children. His mother Ada lived in Wilmington also as did our aunt Ray.Ray (Rae) is also deceased.I tried to get in touch with him after his mother's death but have not been able to locate him.He is not listed in Wilmington any longer. If anyone know how to contact him please send me a messsage or e-mail.
Thanks and looking forward to hearing something,
Pam

The above Samuel married Mary Simmons 3 July 1754, Lancaster Co., VA.

Do not see how he could be the Samuel born 1748, son of John and Winnefred Yopp. He would have been 6 years old at the time of the marriage of the above Samuel to Mary Simmons.

Hey Mark,
I spoke with Aunt Theo on Saturday or Sunday and she sounded good. I had to wait on a customer and told her I would call her back. I really didn't want to tire her out. She wasn't sure when she was going home so, I'll probably try to call her again this weekend. We have just been so busy at the mall store and I have lost one of my helpers so I have to fill in her hours.I am tired.
Aunt Theo was telling me there are a couple of books about the Yopps. Do you know where I can get them? I would just love to have all of this information for my sons to see and have.I have never been able to find anything out about Nanny. Not one thing.I told Aunt Theo it was like she just appeared out of nowhere.
You take care and write soon.Say hello to the family.
Luv to all,
Pam

Do these names sound familiar. Is the name Jane YOPP listed in any of you data??

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Surnames: Yopp
Samuel Yopp (1746-1793) & Mary Simmons (dob 1748) were my 5th great-grandparents. They gave birth to Sally Yopp in 1767. But I do not know who Samuel's parents were. I would love to know the answer, though, because I would then know who my 6th great-grandparents were.
