Dear Darlene,
It's okay that it took awhile for you to answer my post, we all have so much to do these days.I'm just haoppy you did.
I to loved Aunt Ada,I was just so sorry when she passed away and I was unable to attend her funeral. I did get to talk with her while she was in the hospital on several different occasions. We had such good times at the beach with them when we were kids. Some of my best stories and memories.Funny as well. She was just a doll.I saw her last when my oldest son Stephen and I went down and spent a few weeks with Ada and Ray in 1988.I think that was the year it may have been 1989.Anyway we had a ball.Joey and his family and some of Ray's children came and we all went to the beach. It was great. They were taking care of the older aunt and she was a hoot, had no idea who we were, I think she was in her 90s then, she has passed away since then of course.I live in Louisville, Ky. and have forever with my husband of 32 years, I have two grown sons, Stephen who is 35 and has a beautiful little 5 year old daughter , they live in San Diego, Ca. and Scott who is 31 married for 3 years, but, as of today no children, he lives in Louisville as well.Of course you know my mom Jean passed away quite some time ago, 1985, she was only 57,she wasn't sick for very long, so it was quite a shock because she had never been sick very much other than a few colds and when she became ill with emphysema she literally scared herself to death. She lasted a year and just pretty much gave up once she found out she was ill.She just couldn't handle getting older and sick as well.Me, I want to be 90 or 100 even if I am crawling so long as my mind is okay.
You are welcome to staywith me anytime you are in Louisville, I have lots of room and I would love to get to know you.I to think family is very important. After my parents moved away from the beach, my father, actually, I can't really call him that since he deserted my mom and us three kids when I was about 11 or 12 and my sister was 10 and my brother was 7 or 8, didn't get to visit the family much until he was out of the picture and Ada's husband Uncle Tommy kind of looked out for us and got us down there for visits in the summer. He was so good to us.My father never looked back or supported us and Uncle Tommy and Aunt Ada were life savers for my mom trying to raise three kids by herself.
I'm not really close to my siblings, we are just so different and family doesn't really mean much to either of them.Aunt Ada could tell you about that if she were still with us and probably Aunt Theo as well. They both gave my mom such a hard time when they were kids.
Which of your siblings have passed away? Please write me at my e-mail address and tell me all.I send you my phone numbers and address so we can write or call.I am so happy to hear from you. I heard from Mark Gerow, he saw my post and I have talked to Joey a few months ago. He's doing great, and his kids as well.i have his phone number and I can give that to you when you e-mail me.Don't be a stranger, let's keep in touch, who knows we may even get to visit, I pass through Atlanta at least once or twice a year on my way tpo Sarasota, Florida.
Love to all,
Pam
