Looking for any information or leads on a "Nicholas Yoos" who is listed as the father of all of Margaret (Lotz) Yoos children born in Missouri: Gustave "Gus" b.1870, John b.1871, Elizabeth b.1873, Katherine "Kate" b. 1877, Edith Lucille b.1879, Fred b. 1881 and Louise or Lulu b. 1884. All their death records etc. list "Nicholas" as the father and indicate he was born in Switzerland. I can find no records of this person, even with trying variations on the surname - Joos, Yoss, Voos, etc. Oddly, Margaret (Lotz) Yoos is listed in the 1880 census in Missouri by herself as "widowed" and working as a washerwoman, although two more children were born in the 1880s... and Nicholas Yoos is still indicated as the father. Who was this guy and where was he? And why are there no records of him whatsoever? Margaret/Margaretha Lotz was born in Germany and apparently came to the U.S. as an orphan with her siblings in the 1860s and they all settled in Louiseville, Kentucky. Margaret and her children were in Middlebrook, Iron County in 1880, and then were in St. Louis beginning in the 1890s. Appreciate any leads!
