Hi Richard,
Thanks for repying to my post. On a recent trip to New York city I stopped by St Patrick's Cathedral and was hoping to find something about Pietro but I had no luck.
My grandfather's name was Guilio Yon he was born in Tavagnasco, Italy Sep 1880. Tavagnasco is a small village across the river from Settimo Vittone, Italy. Guilio's father's name was Gioanni Antonio Yon. Guilio's mother was Lucia Ghi. My great grandfather Gioanni Antonio Yon's father was Givanni Yon, mother was Antonia Gionetti.
I think now that maybe Guilio's dad and Pietro's dad were the cousins but I haven't had time to do the search. As a child Guilio was taught how to play the clarinet by his uncles who were very musical. as an adult he would play in the town bands where he lived at the time.
There were not a lot of Yon's in that area so I think they were all related somehow. One family story was that they came from France 3 or 4 generations before my grandfather I am not sure how factual this is. If you have any information about Pietro's ancestors I would be very interested in sharing family stories and information.
